BERND KISTENMACHER
Un viaggio attraverso l’Italia
CD, BSC/Prudence, 2001
"Un Viaggio attraverso l’Italia" is the outcome of several visits Bernd Kistenmacher made to Italy during spring and summer 2000.

The album contains his performance, which at first glance already made an honest and lush impression on me. Of course one cannot deny some faint influences from the Berliner School of electronic music, but the overall music sounds original.
The dynamic side of the previous recordings isn’t that present, as only holdback sequencers show up on the first part of the 22 minute title track. It is well composed and creates a great sonic atmosphere.

"Cogni di B." is a short, simple but very effective piano piece, which gets company of great synth scapes. An excellent mellow piece with melancholic undercurrents which keeps singing in your head.

The 33 minute, second part of the title track is next, setting off with warm, slowly building atmospheric textures which even breath a touch of intimacy and romance.
Around the eight minute mark, some more prominent sequencers show up after which the track develops in a rhythmic, symphonic manner with another dash of prominent piano playing.
Later on, this most dynamic track on the cd features some Schulze-kindred soloing on the Mini Moog reminding of the days of "Body Love".
The albums comes to a close with nice sonics of the 5 minute "Rittorno a casa".

Overall, this is worthy album showing an other site of Bernd talent.
