This album contains all tracks of the three previously released EP’s “Cut”, “Alkaline” and “The Unexpected Hours”. It started to take shape after a long period of detachment and isolation as a natural answer to nowadays hectic, overkill of information and stimuli surrounding French composer and label owner Vincent Villuis. In the long process of shaping the almost 80-minute “Far & Off” he found a kindred spirit in Miktek (aka Mihalis Aikaterinis), delivering a spacious, very detailed and glitchy soundscape with lots of rhythmic ingredients from down-tempo and IDM ideal for headphone listening. From the ten tracks, “Small things matter” and “Alkaline” stand out especially, while the whole low-melodic outcome delivers a calming and melancholic vibe through its pure, clean high-tech sounddesign. The latter may come forward distant at first, but more spins will reveal the introspective value of the overall recording as it present itself bare, up close and personal. |
