AirSculpture – Europa
CD/CD-r, Neu Harmony, 1997

After their strong their strong debut “Impossible Geometries” in 1995, things went fast for the talented UK trio Christian/Beasley/Ruczynski. The three describes their output as improvised sequencer music arising while in the act of playing along with both texture and mood as strongholds.

“Europe” holds the entire improvised performance of AirSculpture’s first Dutch concert at the fourth Alfa-Centauri festival in Huizen, on March 1, 1997. At that event, where I was lucky to be present, the musicians were at the top of their game: Adrian, John, and Peter put down an enthusiastically played dynamic set of punchy, alternating sequencers overlaid with swirling synth sounds that is clearly modeled on TD’s 70s music, yet with its own twist. This is (still) catchy electronic music with a sound that demands to be played pretty loud!
