Although AWM’s third album opens much more energetic, rhythmic and sequencer-driven on the first two pieces, the sophisticate soundscape ambient style heard on his previous releases comes forward on the lovely “Sanctuary”. This tranquil, introspective approach also blooms on “Gaia’s Heartbeat”, the melodic/percussive waves of “Ocean of Dreams” and the final track “Frontier of Silence”. Similar to the two opening pieces, “Across the Axis” and “Motion Generator” compliment the livelier picture without getting too busy, the latter being the most techno-ish outing. Overall, this release proves pure electronic outings and atmospheric ambient (which I still prefer) can sit nicely next to each other. “Concept of Motion” was re-released in 2009 as a cd-r and digital download through Gregory’s private label Harmonic Resonance Recordings, which included the bonus track “Optic Nerve Dream”. |
