This freeform release marks the third chapter of “The Sidereal Cycle” series, which the composer regards the spiritual successor to his “Winter Embrace” concept series. The recording again features one track, the 55-minute “Orion”, which sees Mike Carss sophisticatedly weave perfectly layered velvet pads on the earth’s annual cycle. This time, the gently morphing and floating string of soundscapes and textures tap even deeper in the sedate, overall serene ambient well. The harmonic and delicately shifting ambience is a lovely resting place to immersive into, being more minimal than some of Mike’s neo-classical inspired works. “The Sidereal Cycle 3” offers a smooth, melancholic and contemplative aural landscape that will balance, massage and sooth the mind.
