“Solar Eclipse” is the second effort by this German synthesist, and a concept album of space music. Those who think that the music can be laid alongside existing cosmic compositions will have to conclude that Akwara has managed to find a rather different sound and approach. Floating passages are alternated with symphonic parts, and the rhythms that are used here and there sometimes have a dance-like quality. Some parts even sound heavenly, like “Part V”, others sound a bit muddled to me while a more subdued side comes to the fore in “Part VI”. Ron Boots was in charge of the additional mastering of the music which has benefited the sound result. All in all, I consider this an original work within the genre. |
