Arcane – Tomorrow’s Wasteland

The end of 2009 sees another grand release in the genre of retro-inspired electronics, made by no other than Paul Lawler, aka Arcane.

The well composed and constructed “Tomorrow’s Wasteland” offers rich and vibrant vintage music, for the most part following into the footsteps of the ‘80’s TD sound. With that in mind, Paul also used a new sound set, including a lot of warm, airy synth pads and PPG synth sounds (think TD’s “Exit”) while also adding a lot more guitar.

The cohesive, harmonic outcome is a welcome re-visit of TD’s “Thief” and partly “Underwater Sunlight”, next to the already mentioned album “Exit”, offering some very nice sequencing and captivating chord progressions.
Nice going, Mr Lawler!

It’s a pity this strong release is only available as MP3 or Flac-download from MusicZeit.
