“Loss” is another moving and haunting ambient release album by ASC, this time coming up in a confronting, most personal manner, though, as it deals with the death of the composer’s wife in 2023. As such we’re taken on a most touching and heartfelt journey of weighty vastness mirroring the various phases of loss. They all evoke a range of strong emotions, ranging from melancholy to hope, acceptance to sorrow, all reflected through an array of in-depth moods and atmospheres. It’s an empathic narrative unfolding here, where assorted field recordings complement the carefully molded textures. “Sensory Disintegration”, “Begin Again”, “Fleeting Elation” and “Passing of Time” are pinnacle tracks where the intimate and highly sensitive content goes straight to the heart. This also applies to the stunning final “Tears in Rain” which takes off with rain and ends in a sea of sounds. Despite its heavy impact and topic, what a beauty this recording is. |
