This album is dedicated to Axel Stupplich’s late wife Irina, who was not only the love of his life and soulmate but also the first and closest person to him to offer feedback on his music. Creating new music proved a way to deal and come to terms with the immense loss and grief, giving a voice to innermost sadness and memories while providing emotional support. I even imagine the composer showed himself grace and patience during the creative process while finding his way of dealing with the hole left in his life. The nine tracks making up some 72- minute “Resurrection”, contain warm, emotive sound designs with spare rhythms and are calm and introspective. Each of them evolves in a dreamlike, heartfelt manner while lifting a veil simultaneously on how the composer found his way through the process of acceptance, remembrance and letting go. |
