This double EP-album comprises three long excepts of music by the trio as they crossed the pond in 2012 to play several live gigs in Princeton and Philadelphia at The Gatherings, Star’s End radio show and Echoes radio. The variation I missed on the studio release is not present here as the fun playing live in the moment reflects clearly in the slow building Schulzian, Berlin School-based music with Mr Broekhuis subtle rhythms and percussion. I’d say no surprises there. Note the nice brief flavour of “X” in the first 10 minutes of “Music with Space”, though this track as a whole makes the less interesting take of the release in my opinion. The 64-minute “Star’s End FM” filling the second cd exhibits loungy freestyle EM but again raises the question if three musicians were necessary for get to this result. |
