“Heavy Snow” is a tranquil, serene and ethereal soundscape recording by Japanese artist Chihei Hatakeyama. It captures the timeless atmosphere of deep winter and its white expanse.

The textures on the five tracks evolve in a dreamy, slow-minimalist fashion with an occasional sparkle or drift of warm glow in which a sense of melancholy running between the veins can’t be missed.
For me, these elements blur and resonate best on “Heavy Snow III” found at the tail of the album. I though would have preferred an outcome sounding brighter and a tad less foggy, but maybe Chihei intended it this way…
