Meant as an audio soundtrack for circling to the center of oneself, the spacious, slow evolving, subtle shapeshifting and overtly subdued soundscapes making up each of the six freeform tracks on “Labyrinth”, Mr. Russell’s debut solo on the Spotted Peccary label, represent different twists and turns on the journey to the center and back. The spiritual, soft pulsating yet hypnotizing outcome journeying through light and darkness mirrors a process of transformation, introspection and awareness while releasing its energy like vapour through its veins. Be aware this though can only be achieved and experienced in a relaxed state and through focused listening. This album will be up your alley if you like the textural ambient art of Philip Wilkerson. |
