Once in a while, I like to dig through the large pool of dark ambient created globally. Creation VI, founded in 2006, is an ambient/drone project by Ukrainian-based sound artist Tim Six. For “Beringia” -the land and maritime area bounded on the west by the Lena River in Russia- he created a malevolent, overtly mysterious, and foreboding aural landscape featuring a range of acoustic, primal, shamanic sound sources along electronic minimalism, vocal samples and assorted field recordings. On the five extended tracks, we’re passing through stark, gloomy, and ghostly terrain where the souls of the ancient and forgotten still seem to roam while a dense, calm atmosphere is maintained. I suggest giving this deep recording a listen if the tribal ambient works of Steve Roach and/or VidnaObmana are up your alley. |
