Next to being one of the driving forces behind the successful project Code: Indigo, Suffolk-based musician David Wright is also pursuing a solo-career since 20 years. “Momentum” contains a studio re-imagining of new, mainly improvised music David performed at the USA Gatherings Series concert in September 2007. The 70 minutes of uninterrupted music comprising “Momentum” is warm, relaxing, and slowly going by. It’s nicely rendered mood music in which the lush sculptured melodic electronics, solo’s and more driving guitar loops get all the freedom to shine its own beauty and meaning. This especially comes to the surface in “A Solitary Moment”, the nicely paced, uplifting “Emergence”/“Out of the Blue”, the groovy, upbeat “Evolution” and the three-part title track near the end of the album. All in all, the 70-minute “Momentum” is a very enjoyable listen through a nice variety of imaginary sonic landscapes. |
