Deborah Martin is one of the talents within the Spotted Peccary community who would create an atmospheric ambient world of her own in later years. Previous to this debut-album, which further expresses her ongoing passion to visualize and create music that takes each listener on a journey through time and space, Deborah showed up on the label-sampler “Tracks in Time”. The 38-minute “Under the Moon” airs the characteristic sonic flavor from Spotted Peccary’s early releases, featuring ten spherical and dreamy tracks with a slight Indian/world-music edge. Most of all, the balanced and calming outcome is a perfect mix of percussion, acoustic/electric and electronic instruments where evocative melodic lines and smooth synth textures float along subtle and without much effort. Focused and repeated listens to “Under the Moon” will prove a most rewarding experience, revealing many glowing layers showing subtle ambient music can also be most powerful, fulfilling and enchanting. P.S. In March 2015, Spotted Peccary Music re-released the album as a 20th Anniversary Remastered Edition with expanded booklet. |
