“Sojourns” is a rather timeless sonic canvas that takes its audience to all kinds of different places and states of mind. Reminiscent of Erik’s other ambient works, it serves a kaleidoscope of emotive soundscapes, intricate rhythms, ethereal guitar, and mesmerizing synth textures. A sense of serenity and calm swirls through the veins of the gentle unfolding, occasionally drifting sonic fabric of soft glowing glacial panoramas. While repeated rhythmic patterns are present, there still is no trace of actual chords on “Sojourns”, as the composer only uses certain scales that the whole tonality is centered around. The result is (another) quite hypnotizing sonic narrative from the skilled Norwegian multi-instrumentalist being told without words, emphasizing melodic and structural formations while allowing the listener to make up his own inner images. Check this one out if you’re looking for some (more) imaginary realities by this craftsman. |
