On his previous recordings, Dinslaken-based composer Frank Dorittke has proven he knows his ways around with electronics, with or without enticing e-guitar. On the nearly 71-minute “The Last Curtain”-which Frank refers to as the best from his self-released download albums “Project M.O.M.”, “Atmos” and “Earth and Moon”- warm sounds, melodies, some smooth soaring solo voices as well as underlying catchy sequencing make up the five tracks, and it’s if the positive, dreamy vibe on them establishes all by itself. Those who love Mr Dorittke’s emotive guitar playing in classic Oldfield-style are well served on the moody fourth track “The Return to O. (The Last Curtain)” with its great bass line as well as the lengthy 25-minute title piece found at the end. |
