“Gallery Of Dreams • plus live!” is the anniversary edition of the classic album by Austrian multi-instrumentalist Heinz Strobl, aka Gandalf, that first came out in 1992. For this special occasion, the release has been expanded to a 3-disc set. The first disc contains the original album with ex-Genesis member Steve Hackett joining Gandalf on a few tracks, but the outcome has been completely remastered. The music itself contains a sophisticated blend of acoustic instruments, sitar, synths, flute, horn and piano along other assorted instruments. They all lend another dimension to Gandalf fairy-tale music, that already shifted to a different level with its orchestral predecessor “Symphonic Landscapes”. The additional two discs (Live in Concert part 1 & 2) contain the previously unreleased complete live concert recorded during the Wiener Konzerthaus concert in Vienna Austria. At that occasion, Gandalf performed his music with a complete band, which also saw the appearance of guitarist Steve Hackett as special guest artist. The latter takes the lead as two Genesis tracks are performed (“Horizons” and “In that Quiet Earth”). Due to the live-setting, the vibe and impact of the music is more dynamic, offering a firmer backbone to the artist’s emotive music. In addition, the third disc contains the promo video “Face In The Mirror”. |
