Gert Emmens & Ruud Heij – Urban Decay

The six tracks Gert Emmens & Ruud Heij created for “Urban Decay” were mainly based on and inspired by their well-accomplished performance at the Dutch E-live Festival in 2012 and completed in February 2013.
Due to a change in their style of music (ambient atmospherics on “Signs” followed by retro-Berlin School on “Echoes From Future Memories”), the reworked studio outcome was shelved for a while and released eventually as a download-only in December 2014.

By popular demand and the willingness of Ron Boots’ Groove Unlimited the album is now also available as a factory-pressed hard copy. This is fortunate, as the 60-minute outcome offers a nice blend of typical Emmens/Heij sequences and warm-melodic vintage textures (accompanied by drums and guitar on a few occasions) reaching a highlight on the 14-minute “Part 5”.

Simply put, “Urban Decay” should be on your wish-list when you appreciate the duo’s approach, mood and feel for vintage electronics on their previous releases.
