This is in fact my first encounter with the output of Norwegian synthesist Glenn Main, aka Glenn Henriksen, who hereby delivers an almost 59-minute album displaying a mellow/melodic style of cosmic music.
“Ripples”, Glenn’s fourth album by now, contains 12 structured and highly accessible feel-good compositions with a fair percentage of soft New Age thrown in. A real slap in the face though is the fourth track “Heart and Soul”, where the music quality sinks to the poor level of elevator muzak. I personally can’t cope with nor adjust to the profound softness and simplicity that marks Mr Mains chill-out music, despite the few hints to Jarre’s classic style.
All in all, “Ripples” features easy-going and simple electronic tunes, something one will like or not.
