This 71-minute follow-up to the duos “Higher Green Session”, created on the fly during various sessions on December 30, 2015, still takes its inspiration from the classic Berlin School sound. This time around, spicy sequencer patterns though are a far less important ingredient on the four lengthy tracks, giving room to quite a lot of vintage soundscaping and textural sketches. It’s a pity though Stephan’s solos (on always the same instrument) show up a bit too much to my taste, sometimes in an almost screaming fashion (as happens on “Greensequent”) as if asking for attention. I guess Berlin School addicts won’t mind and will reach out for “Even Higher Green” anyway. |
