One of the things that becomes clear on this peaceful recording by Buenos Aires-based ambient composer Gustavo Denouard is the sonic approach, which lines up quite nicely with Michael Stearns as well as Steve Roach’s introspective, melancholic-infused soundscape music: it takes the listener to meditation and reflection. According to the liner notes, the music shows a moment in the composer’s life where he had to disconnect from busy everyday life, to lock himself in and move to the countryside. In a three-month period Gustavo developed the sketches and recordings to be calm with himself, which took shape later in his home studio; that peace is in every detail of each of the six tender pieces, featuring luminous, relaxing, and contemplative atmospheres float upon minimalist and hypnotic ambient drones. “Mysterious Winds” is available as a name-your-price download. |
