The spacious music on the 7-track “Follow the River Home” continues in Jeff’s signature sound of pastel-coloured guitar ambient paintings. The calming aural impressionist art displayed here by this Indiana-based composer flows onward peacefully and most harmonic while creating distinct atmospheric moods with the use of various digital processing and looping techniques. The fine combo of treated guitar sound and warm synth pads comes to a highlight on the most elegant and ethereal “Downstream II” along the haunting, highly immersive 20-minute ambient-space excursion “Gathering Stars”, played live at the Gathering Concert Series in Philadelphia on October 11, 2014. I feel the 53-minute “Follow the River Home” ticks many boxes when one is looking for something spiritually refreshing, inspiring, uplifting and overtly relaxed. |
