With this album, containing music recorded between March and June 2020, Japanese composer Juta Takahashi takes us into outer space, and describes the long-form result as an ambient expression of starlit journeys to uncharted worlds. As before, he blends strings of velvet soundscapes, long-held notes, and gracious textures -all of analogue nature- in an enchanting, delicate, slightly minimalist manner. The second track “Starlit Path”, an earthly journey in the composer’s words, sounds a bit melancholic and is even more touching as Juta adds some highly evocative wordless female voices to the smooth gliding synthetic pads as we travel deeper in a world of discovery. The 20-minute “Voyage” features a more minimal sound design with a gentle ebb and flow of slow-evolving soundwaves while the final (again minimal-shaped) track features an uplifting sequence with warm pads washing over them, all culminating into a euphoric-ish realm near the end. |
