Canadian-born musician Lisa Walker has a peculiar fascination for humpback whales and their natural environment. So she made lots of recordings with a hydrophone, capturing the amatizing, broad repertoire of communication patterns of these huge animals, combining them with environmental sounds, and integrated all this into some highly inspired ambient music dedicated to this theme. Using a prepared violin with specially built waterproof speakers she made het own sounds resonate within the whales’natural environment and the outcome is quite stunning.
