Markus Reuter & [‘ramp] – Ceasing to Exist

The album “Ceasing to Exist” is what I would call a beautiful but intensive journey into the darkening lands of ambient music.

For this 63-minute release, Frank Makowski & Stephen Parsick (aka [‘ramp] ) collaborated with experimental guitarist Markus Reuter.
The latter delivered some great touch guitar improvisations and loops, to which the duo skilfully added some deep textures and transparent drone-scapes.

The seven hypnotizing tracks presented here feel like a voyage into nothingness, which never seems to end. One can notice a lot of nuances and detail in the microstructures and minimal soundscapes, which nicely shape shift as the dark mood carries on and on.

All in all, “Ceasing to Exist” is a fascinating, morphing journey into the deep end of things.
