German drone-King Mathias Grassow is well-known for his extensive and deep textural music, and the exactly 76-minute “Bloodmoon” (compiled from various projects recorded in the autumn and winter of 2009 and 2010) adds another chapter to that. As usual, Mathias layering of the various sound pads is done with precise care. Highly minimal and spacious, the slowly shifting and morphing sound current presents itself as one long trail into the depths of the underworld. These deep and profound chilling sonic landscapes kick in even better with just a dim light on and with a good pair of headphones. |
