With their album “Tantalizing Thoughts at the Dawn of Dreams”, the four experienced musicians making up MorPheuSz have added a strong and upfront release to their discography. The project is an outlet of new ideas and electronic free style that wouldn’t really fit into personal releases of the members, implemented in an instrumental progressive rock framework with symphonic side steps. It soon becomes clear the role of Frank Dorittke is more prominent on this recording, as he delivers some sparkling, rocking and energetic guitar work complimenting and interacting beautifully with Harold’s fine drums/percussion and the versatile, melodic synth and pulsating sequencing by Ron and Eric. The second piece “Tantalizing Thoughts” is the first extravaganza, containing a great synth/guitar battle. In the following “Arousing Imaginary Vortex”) the whole band kicks ass in a myriad of fast-forward rock sounds and strong pulsating sequencer patterns. Things lean back into more quiet realms with the spherical sound painting “Oriental Insomnia”. Initially, Frank’s guitar sound receives a tasty Eastern flavour, later shifting to the melodic/rock fashion. The 15-minute “Dawn of Dreams” makes a catchy outro of electronic rock music with a mellow side, again featuring some memorable, upfront sequencing giving the piece an attractive, sturdy backbone. “Tantalizing Thoughts at the Dawn of Dreams” testifies the alchemy happening with such musical talents, pushing the boundaries while challenging and energizing each other during the sonic journey. |
