“Particles” is Owann’s debut album containing some 74 minutes of delicate, ambient-oriented, rather calm music. Quite a large section of it is moody, emotive, and warm soundscapes with a gentle melodic approach and cinematic touch but there are also a few pieces with thoughtful, well-tempered sequences (“Running on Empty”). It’s an outcome that sounds positive, honest, and well-made to my ears. Pinnacle moments on the release are the freeform atmospheric pieces (like the mesmerizing “Eclipse” and “Silent Rain”) where the magic shines all the way through. Rating: almost 4 stars. |
