The issue of global warming has entered the world of electronic music as Patrick O’Hearn’s album “Glaciation” was inspired by the otherworldly beauty of the northern latitudes and dedicated to all those who share respectful consideration for its future. On his site, Patrick says that the “simple 13 composition music-told narrative was recorded between January and June 2007”, and “feels satisfied that it has the overall character and under adorned openness that he was hoping to achieve”. I appreciate his honesty, but everyone who’s looking for an electronic album as his former ones should be warned. “Glaciation” contains only 43 minutes of intimate music in which gliding guitar textures, piano and quite some bass lead the way, accompanied by some vague electronics on the background. I sincerely hope Patrick will return to his former trademark and only play this kind of stuff as a hobby, not meant for release. |
