“Planetia Utopia” was first released as the 11th CD of “The Chronicles” box and is the fifth re-issue of cosmic traveler Patrick ‘Wille De Wael’ Kosmos. The 67-minute album is another ticket into the mystery and vastness of our cosmos, presenting deep atmospheric soundscapes for discoveries into space and awe-inspiring, panoramic moments. Here we enter a weightless immensity full of splendour where all sound leaves their own deep sensory impressions. Especially on the first two tracks, Patrick paints some haunting, out-of-this-world soundscapes spiced with snippets of cosmic breath as well as some radio transmissions. The title piece is more traditional and introduces mid-tempo sequencing and melody, while the final (also most accessible) piece Goodbye So Long (song For B’Elanna) is a heartwarming, joyful composition featuring lots of different sounds. The latter -as well as the title track- were also featured on the privately released “The Concert 2000 Alpha Centauri”. Another notable aspect to the album’s music is the keen use of versatile percussion and percussive elements. Same as the previous Kosmos re-issues, my trusted friend Dan from Perth made a lot of effort to make the classic outcome sound as best as possible. Recommended. |
