Paul Avgerinos – Sky of Grace

Greek/American musician and producer Paul Avgerinos hails from Redding, Connecticut, where he started his own professional analogue/digital Unicorn studio in 1984.

Some might know him from his previous album “Muse of the Round Sky”, released on Hearts of Space in 1992.
This album, which has been re-released on his own label Round Sky label, featured an interesting blend of instrumental electronic music and world beat percussion.

Something similar, but further developed music can be found on “Sky of Grace”, for which he invited a couple of guest musicians such as Brian Keane on e-guitar and David Darling on cello.

Paul himself describes the outcome as “sophisticated, sensuous sound design”. Cello and heavenly voices (200 voice-choirs) take centre stage in various tracks, but the style from his previous record started to show up when I reached the sixth, 10-minute title track, which features spacy synths and hold back fretless bass.
Toward the end, the overall atmosphere becomes very serene, majestic and heavenly.
