“Tristesse”, subtitled five adagios for times of sorrow, is a contemplative, neo-classical oriented work of tenderness and contemplation, composed using a digital chamber orchestra of synthesizers. The five lengthy pieces, which feel like a requiem, carry on in a slow, gently soaring but never changing tempo, in which the melody comes from the sampled sounds of horn, hobo, flute and harp, smoothly hovering over moody, textural string pads. All in all, the feelings of deep grief and loss have been captured beautifully on “Tristesse”, a quiet heartache of remembrance emotions and profound reflection. Chapeau, Paul ! |
