This time around, the duo Getty and Stringer (aka Perge) has focussed the almost 80 minute outcome on the sound and impact of TD’s classic album “Rubicon”, playing pleasant variations on the Teutonic sequencing, vintage pads and lots of mellow mellotron in a “live-setting”. The very tasty opener “Rubidion” already makes a strong statement while neatly mirroring the atmosphere of a vintage TD bootleg from those days. I’m personally most fond of the freeform atmospheric interludes passing by over and over again, hanging smoothly and ethereal in the air as they evaporate an enchanting, at times more psychedelic-oriented realm. In that respect, the first half of “Anfa pt 2” offers some great sonic scenery before moving into mellow “Rubicon/Ricochet” territory. |
