I’m glad Matthew Stringer accepted invitations to perform live in The Netherlands at E-Day in April 2024 and at the UK’s “Awakenings” in May 2024. A great selection of new songs as well as reworked pieces from the Perge back catalog ( “Mythos”, “Second Sun” & “Out The Way We Came In”) he played at these events is now captured on “Exolon: live ’24” (Secret Tapes Volume IV). Again, all music has been executed with the ambition of recreating the excitement of classic melodic electronic rock and the works of ’70s and ’80s Tangerine Dream in particular. At the E-Day event, Matthew tripped up about 20 minutes before he was due on stage and fractured his ankle and shoulder, making it quite difficult to play but no one noticed or commented somehow he got away with it. Well, on the nine tracks, Mr. Stringer simply nails the enchanting melodic sounds, thrilling vibes, and sequencing from e.g. “Hyperborea”, and “Underwater Sunlight” but also from classics like “Stratosphere”. Nice going, Mr. Stringer! |
