Phelios’ second album “Passage” is a gloomy, dark ambient work by Martin Stürtzer that initially came out on a diy cd-r. In 2011, it was re-released as a proper CD. It features the carefully remastered original material, as well as two previously unreleased tracks (both recorded shortly after the 2006 release), along a remix by False Mirror and the live-track “Mountains Of Madness Part 3” (recorded live at Wave Gotik Treffen 2009). The ominous sounding outcome displays the artist’s early steps into tribal-ambient soundscapes, all featuring dark, dense atmospheres with a touch of the mystic, matched occasionally with ritualistic percussions. In later works, Mr Stürtzer refined his talent in this genre and deepened his sound, but this album certainly has its moments. |
