“Moments in Sound”, a collection of released and unreleased music, is a release by the UK composer David Thompson (aka Phobos) who already impressed me a lot with his in-depth ambient albums “This desolate place” and “Darker”. Besides the fact this album of this very talented musician is an excellent and very tasty introduction to the lush, slow morphing and highly atmospheric soundworlds with occasional mysterious whispers/effects, six of the eleven tracks on it are also previously unreleased. The latter includes an excerpt of a fine live-set played at the Awakenings-festival in October 2011. Of the three longform drone releases “Darkness Within”, “Monolith” and “This Desolate Place”, David even presents a nice lengthy medley to bring the core of each music to the listener. And maybe the best thing of all, “Moments in Sound” is available for free as high-quality Flac and mp3. |
