Like its predecessor, “Tholus”, this release consists of two 30-minute live-in-studio recordings created for UK Morphic Resonance events (improvised synthesizer concerts) at Halloween (episode 54) and Christmas specials (episode 57) in 2024. Soaring, expansive textures wandering into the dark, deep end are served from the start, painting quite haunting, surreal, and foggy sceneries before the mind’s eye. Broadening among ethereal atmospheres surface on the second half of the title track as we traverse desolate lands full of shadows and surreal weather conditions. The second track “Isidis Planitia” turns out lighter though still featuring layers of dense, otherworldly soundscapes with a gentle sequence surfacing in the background from the 14th until the 20-minute mark. The last section of the piece breathes a lovely sense of loneliness and serenity. One best cherishes “Shrouded” with headphones in a comfy position with eyes closed to get the best out of this fine work of soundscape ambient. Nice one, Dave! |
