Pyramid Peak’s 12th studio album has a special feature, as the music was produced for the first time by Axel Stüpplich only, as Andreas Morsch is still in his musical break that began in mid-2023. Nevertheless, everything that Pyramid Peak has been known for, for over 20 years, is embedded in the 68-minute “Kontinuum”: sophisticated yet catchy sequences, hypnotic beats, melodies with enticing tunes and beautiful harmonies. A total of six new pieces -of which it is quite difficult to choose a favourite, but I think it is “Aquamarine”- take the listener on a journey into the contemporary Pyramid Peak sound universe that is liked by many. All in all another, “Kontinuum” makes a well-done, solid release which sees Axel do justice to the strong Pyramid Peak sound. A 48kHz, 24-bit version of the release is only available exclusively for download from the band’s Bandcamp-site. Overall verdict: between 3.5 and 4 stars. |
