Ramsaygee – Exotique

Ramsaygee is a project by English digital artist, digital musician and vocalist Gareth Ramsay, whose states he takes a visionary approach to anything he creates.

This is his second release “Exotique”, that involves a strong flavoured tribal/Middle Eastern style of electronic music. Smooth guitar licks, flute samples and an assortment of world rhythms accompany the twelve instrumental tracks, in which I had expected a bit stronger atmospheric paintings.

It’s the sometimes slick, rather soft approach that comes to the surface in the melodic songs that prevents it to sparkle a bit more, although I like the groovy lines as e.g. heard in “After the Storm”, “Origin” or “Tatsu Dansu Dragon Dance”.
At other spots, the quality of the music is questionable, even becoming just plain easy listening/elevator music (“El Cielo Chispeante”, “Gardenias & Myrrh”).

Although oriental-oriented and featuring lots of vocal patches and samples, the overall outcome remains too mainstream to recommend it.
