As far as I know, this is the ninth cd of the American musician Richard Bone, but his first release on the dark ambient label Hypnos. “The Spectral Ships” is a non-rhythmic abstract recording, featuring dense, foreboding textures which occasionally blend with some lighter, spacy soundscapes, creating an overall spooky feel. The info in the cd booklet says this album is far more structured and composed when compared to the stuff that’s normally available on this label. Although the overall sound trip isn’t unfriendly, this dark ambient work remains a heavy one for after hours. |
