Robert Beau Michaels – Dance of Ecstasy – Dance Music to free the spirit
CD-R, Private Release, 2010

As the title already suggest, Robert Beau Michaels turns up the rhythmic alley with this release.

Busy and rather heavy drumming open “Invitation to the Dance”, followed by warm, melodic and floating sound pads. The latter also make up “Dance of the Meditating Goddesses”, a reflective and moody 4-minute piece in the slow lane, nicely followed by the moody, sometimes neo-classical soundings of “Dance of the Enchanted Princess” and “Dance of the Passionate Senorita”.

Thereafter, the rhythm keeps a low profile, leaving room for smooth, imaginary, slowly evaporating new age flavours. All rhythms though stay overall minimal, not sounding varied in any way.

Things turn rather hectic on “Dance Frenzy” with its thunder drums, accompanied by some minimal melodic string pads, but the mood slows down again on the title track with a soft soaring violin lead.
It’s a pity though the closing track sounds too frentic and chaotic too my ears next to the mediocre sound of the drums and the turmoil of symphonic pads.

The album is available as Mp3-download through CD-Baby and Itunes.
