Robert Fox – Evergreen

I was very impressed by Robert’s previous album “Adonai”, so I had high hopes for “Evergreen”, a 65-minute concept album inspired by his homeland England.

What we got here is a kind of sonic storytelling, for which Robert focussed on his melodic, accessible and overall gentle style of composing.
Next to lots of symphonic hints, the music with occasional melancholic undercurrents has a strong romantic impact with its soft flowing themes and piano playing, but overall a bit too sappy and sweet, almost new age too my taste. The vocal pads and choral textures stress this feeling even more.
Nevertheless, this album sure will appeal to a wide EM-audience.
