This concept album by German composer Rudolf Heimann -of which the title translates as The Infinity of the Moment- features a mixture of Berlin School-angled synth music, symphonic-ish (score) elements along a slice of progrock surfacing occasionally in the contemporary instrumental music. The 68-minute result is accessible and evolves in a melodic fashion on the first half. Notable though is the subtle approach, smooth pulse and lightness found in the 9-minute “Ewigkeit”. And then there’s the peculiar 32-minute track (with a lengthy title) found at the end of the album featuring a German narrator. That one sounds as a confusing piece and weird radio play to my ears having only a few gentler, spherical moments like the one around the 10 and 15-minute mark. Even after several spins I had no clue what to make out of this piece. I actually makes the whole outcome uneven. |
