“The Lake” is the first brand new release by UK composer Simon Slator (who some might know as Cold Sun) after an 8-year break. The digital-only ambient release contains three tracks dealing with solitude/isolation from two different points of view, yet addressing an ultimately positive view upon it. The free form soundscape music is expressive, sensitive and intimate, unfolding and going onward in gentle progression while taking on a symphonic realm. If you love floating ambient music, this lush and vibrant outcome will be right up your alley, lifting the listener up to a higher, stress-relief sphere detached from worldly affairs while giving the opportunity for reflection. With the three pieces comes a bonus track (“Danza Pasada”), which dates from a month after the sessions for “The Lake”, using pretty-much the same approach and compositional principles. |
