Stephen states in the press sheet that the music (he actually calls it his “water album”) for this cd began to take shape as he was rehearsing with Phelios for the live music which later would end up on “It always rains in Wuppertal”. The lap steel guitar is featured as well, its great moving sound already shows up in “part 1”. The ambient music on “Deltaplan”, split in six parts, is of a intense, eery and foreboding nature. There’s a lot of tension and dynamics incorporated in the looped and meandering soundscapes, which seeks its way in the same manner as the water did at the time of the Dutch great flood disaster of 1953. “Part 4” becomes even more dynamic and scary as some mighty drums (played by Phelios) kick in. While listening to this nicely rendered atmospheric ambient, one can almost feel the menace of flowing masses of water and the enormous power its inhabits. Like the previous ambient albums, “Deltaplan” is a limited release of only 25 numbered copies. |
