This, beautifully packaged, double live-cd comprises outtakes from the long list of intensive concerts Steve Roach gave during his US-tour in 2002. Concerts included Sedona Arizona, Oakland, San Francisco California, Portland Oregon, and the SFMOMA / Yoko Ono event in June 2002. Those familiar with his albums “Innerzone”, “Midnight Moon”, “Core”, “Streams & Currents” and “Early Man” will find a great overview of Roach’s elements of musical style. They range from ethno/tribal beats to expansive, deep carving soundworlds in which Steve applied various flutes, didgeridoos, environmentals and complex sequencer-food. Both cds sound very convincing. As a matter of fact, they form a definite statement of this ambient master, who has been digging and excavating the ambient genre for over 20 years. In addition, it illustrates the several stages this innovative sound sculptor has gone through. All in all, this is an essential live album and a must-have for any Roach-fan. |
