The 74-minute “Groove Immersion” comes in four parts and is a mixed bag of “infinite” grooves, minimal percussion and mercurial soundworlds. Although the sounds on this album lend the outcome a high-tech rim, it’s also too easy and rather uninspired to my ears. I imagine Steve’s intention must have been to create a smooth and deep sonic experience with an inner drive. But now that I hear the uninterrupted aural landscape with micro shifts and rhythm box, I have to admit it’s a bit disappointing. All in all, “Groove Immersion” is a rather bland and lazy release, neither fish nor fowl. |
