With their third full-length release, aka US-synthesists Jourdan Laik and Phillip Wilkerson take another step forward in developing and defining their musical signature. As on the previous albums, “Ocean of Time” has a lot to like for fans of immersive, textural-ambient space music. As we board for a trip through the cosmic outdoors that are impressive and enchanting to the ear, its rich electronic and string orchestration bathes its listener in unhurried expansive bliss for over 70 minutes. The drifting cosmic courier outcome (with highlights “Infinite Cadence” and “Momentary Illusions”) is stress-relieving and purifying for the mind when you’re stressed-out. The final track “A Notion of Being” swims in a vast ocean of ethereal (as well as occasional soft mourning) textural washes. However, despite Ben Cox’s attentive mastering, the outcome can’t compete with the results achieved by Spotted Peccary’s mastering and recording engineer Howard Givens.
