“Greenosophy” (inspired by two outdoor Greenosophy parties in 2009 and 2010) is a mixed ambient compilation collected Mizoo (aka Swiss dj Cyril Miserez). It takes off gently and smooth, but as soon as the second track fades in, the narrative and rather surreal space slowly transforms into a bubble of subtle movement. From the third track on, things start to groove nicely with occasional organic undercurrents. Sesen’s “Emerge” nicely hits the minimal downtempo button, and serves as a great intro to Cell’s “Idea Spiral”, a slow, deep and lengthy trip spiralling firmly upward in its finale. AJJA continues this downtempo pathway masterfully. Then, Tripswitch and Solar Fields put in some more energy to the minimal downtempo framework, pulling things along in a higher but steady drive through mesmerizing spheres. The last three pieces done by Miktek, James Murray and Cygna respectively, slowly make the switch from downtempo toward the quiet, intimate spaces found at the beginning of “Greenosophy”. Cygna’s “Broken dream of a little snail” is a little gem with both dreamy as hypnotic flavours. Oncemore, listening with headphones reveals the stunning mastering qualities of Ultimae’s Vincent Villuis and the detailed, panoramic sound design of the whole sophisticated recording. |
